-
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a series of custom-fitted, clear aligners that work to help straighten your teeth without using metal wires or brackets.
During your consultation, we use 3D computer imaging technology and establish a treatment plan made to help your unique smile.
A series of custom clear aligners will then be made to precisely fit your teeth during every stage of your Invisalign treatment process.
-
How does the Invisalign process work?
Invisalign clear plastic aligners are designed to move your teeth in small increments as your treatment continues. You will wear every aligner for approximately two weeks before replacing it with the next one in the series.
You will continue this process until your teeth reach their new, prescribed positions. The length of your Invisalign treatment will depend on your specific requirements.
-
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Your dentist will determine the length of your treatment with Invisalign depending on your specific requirements.
Some of the elements that could determine the duration of your treatment include the shape of your bite, misalignment of your teeth or jaw, and the amount of movement needed to help correct your condition.
-
What are Invisalign aligners made of?
Invisalign aligners are made from USP Class VI medical-grade, high molecular weight polyurethane resins. They are BPA-free.
-
How often do I have to visit the dentist?
Because Invisalign clear aligners don't have to be adjusted or tightened – you only have to switch to a new set of aligners every two weeks – your dentist will only have to schedule brief check-up appointments with you every 4 to 6 weeks.
At these appointments, your dentist will review your progress and general oral health, as well as answer your questions, and adjust your treatment as required.
-
What are the primary features of Invisalign?
The features of Invisalign are:
- A discreet, low profile appearance
- Removable for eating, brushing, and flossing
- Smooth construction for enhanced comfort
- Do not require adjustment appointments
-
How much does Invisalign cost?
The cost of your Invisalign aligner will depend on the severity of your issue and the duration of your treatment. For example, the more severe the malocclusion, the more aligners you'll require and the more your treatment will cost.
Often, the cost of Invisalign is comparable to that of traditional orthodontic treatment (braces).
-
What financing options do you offer?
We currently don't offer any financing options however, we offer direct billing to your insurance company. To learn more you can speak to your dentist or click here.
-
How will Invisalign fit my lifestyle?
You might realize that Invisalign can fit very comfortably into your everyday life.
You can remove your aligners when you need to eat, drink, brush and floss. This means that there aren't any dietary restrictions, and brushing and flossing are just as easy as ever.
-
Are there any food or drink restrictions?
Invisalign aligners are removable, so you can remove them to eat without having any dietary restrictions during your treatment. Because of this, you can keep eating all the foods you love during your treatment!
To avoid staining your clear aligners, we suggest removing them when you are consuming beverages such as coffee, wine, or dark sodas.
-
How many sets of aligners will I need?
The number of aligners you will require will depend on the severity of your misalignment.
Only your dentist will be able to provide you with an accurate estimate for the number of aligners you will need, based on a careful examination of your bite during an initial consultation.
-
Can adults use Invisalign?
Yes! Anyone with healthy teeth and gums can be a potential candidate for Invisalign.
-
Can teenagers use Invisalign?
Yes! Teens can be Invisalign candidates. Actually, Invisalign has made a line of aligners designed to meet the unique needs of teenagers.
Invisalign Teen aligners have compliance indicators on them (small blue dots that fade away after the aligners have been worn for a full two weeks) to help keep teens on schedule with their treatment.
They also come with eruption tabs that give room for second molars and prevent them from coming in crooked.
-
How often do I have to change my Invisalign aligners?
Most patients have to switch to their next set of aligners approximately every two weeks. Your dentist will tell you exactly how often you need to be changing your aligners.
-
How do I clean my aligners?
Rinse your aligners every time you take them out to wash away dry saliva and plaque that could cause dental decay and bad breath.
Soak your aligners in a denture cleaner, Retainer Brite, and/or the official Invisalign cleaning crystals.
Brush and floss your teeth before putting your aligners back in. Good oral hygiene is essential for maintaining healthy teeth and avoiding decay and cavities. Not brushing and flossing properly can lead to trapped food debris and bacteria between your teeth and aligners, increasing your risk of bad breath and dental problems.
Clean your aligners with a clear, anti-bacterial soft soap. Clear anti-bacterial soap can be a good and inexpensive way to keep your aligners clear, fresh, and free from dangerous bacteria.
Brush your aligners carefully so don't scratch them, and then rinse off the soap. Then you're done!
-
Can I play sports with Invisalign?
Invisalign aligners are removable so you are able to play sports without having to worry about damaging your aligners.
But, you need to remember that Invisalign aligners have to be worn for at least 22 hours a day, so manage your time carefully.
You'll also want to get a sports mouthguard to keep your teeth safe because orthodontic treatment can slightly loosen your teeth as they shift into their new positions, and this can put them at risk for becoming damaged.
-
Can I play my instrument with Invisalign?
Yes! Just take your aligners out to practice playing your instrument, and put them back in when you are done.
-
How do I store my aligners?
You will get a case with your Invisalign aligners, and this is where you should store your aligners when you are not wearing them to keep them safe.
